Site Visits Strengthen University Partnerships (click here for a PDF version of this article)

According to the Council for Aid to Education, corporate and foundation support to higher education totaled more than $10 billion from July 1, 2000 to June 30, 2001. Face-to-face meetings to present research priorities, departmental needs, outreach programs or to explore other opportunities can have a profound effect upon the strength of a relationship and the resulting funding. Between July 1, 2001 and June 30, 2002, CFR² coordinated 87 visits, both on and off-site, involving more than 400 deans, faculty, staff and administrators representing almost all areas of the campus.

One way to leverage visits is to engage speakers at conferences being held at UCLA. This offers an opportunity to enhance a visit to the area for participants who otherwise may not make trips to the region. Below are a few links to events being held at UCLA in the coming months. If you would like CFR2 to explore the possibility of a meeting, for you or members of your faculty, with an executive or thought leader participating in one of these or other area conferences or symposia, please contact the office at x42315.
